Day passes and flexible gym apps in Europe

Urban Sports Club, ClassPass, Wellhub, TrainMore and the chains’ own passes. What each costs, where it works, and the visit count at which a membership wins.

The options

Urban Sports Club

€29 to €129/mo

DE · FR · ES · IT · NL · BE · PT

The biggest European flexible app. Four tiers from S to L; higher tiers unlock premium gyms, pools and more visits per venue. Pause any month.

ClassPass

Credits, from ~€30/mo

Most major cities

Credit-based, strongest for boutique classes. Gym floor access is limited and expensive in credits.

Wellhub (Gympass)

Via employer

ES · DE · IT · IE · UK and more

Corporate benefit with tiers; check whether your employer offers it before paying for anything else.

TrainMore

€40 to €60/mo, falls per visit

Netherlands

A membership whose price drops €1 for each visit, so frequent users pay least. A different model, worth knowing in the Netherlands.

Chain day passes

€8 to €15

Basic-Fit · McFIT · Fitness Park · PureGym-owned Fitness World

Bought in the app without joining. The cheapest way to train for a few days.

Municipal pools and gyms

€3 to €6 a visit

Everywhere

Often the best pool in town and a fair gym. Monthly passes €30 to €40. Overlooked by visitors and locals alike.

When a pass wins

Under five visits a month, day passes are cheapest. Between five and ten, a flexible app wins if you want variety: climbing one day, a pool the next, a Reformer class at the weekend. Above ten visits at the same gym, nothing beats a membership, and the app’s per-venue caps start to bite.

What the apps don’t tell you

Most plans cap visits per venue per month (Urban Sports Club allows four to eight at a given gym depending on tier). Premium clubs are usually on the top tier only or excluded. Class bookings open later for app users than for members. And the apps are strongest in Germany, France and Spain; thin in the Nordics and Ireland.

Through your employer

Wellhub (formerly Gympass) and Urban Sports Club corporate plans are employer benefits in most of these countries, and Poland’s Multisport card is the extreme case where most members pay nothing directly. Ask HR before buying anything yourself.
