Bike + Apple Fitness+

£9.99

£120 a year · £600 over five

Any Bluetooth bike or WaterRower with a Watch. The value stack.

Luxury room

£80 to £120

£1,200 a year · £6,000 over five

Technogym Live premium, Tonal, Zwift. Adds up faster than the hardware depreciates.

Which ones you can skip

Anything with hardware that works without it. Technogym Live basic, WaterRower app, Kinomap for routes. Peloton, Hydrow and Tonal are built around the subscription and the hardware is a shell without them; that is the trade you make for the classes.

Which ones replace each other

Apple Fitness+ at £9.99 covers strength, yoga, HIIT and cycling on any bike with a Watch. It is not Peloton, but for a household that owns a WaterRower and dumbbells it replaces three separate apps. Les Mills+ does the same for anyone who misses studio classes at a club.

Price rises

Peloton, Zwift and Tonal have all raised prices since 2022 with no grandfathering. Budget for a rise every two to three years and run the calculator at the higher figure.

Cancelling

All are monthly and cancel in-app or online. Peloton and Hydrow pause for up to three months; useful for summer. Annual plans on Apple and Zwift save 15 to 20 percent and are the right buy if you are sure.
