How to choose a work-to-gym bag
Four things separate a good gym bag from a bag you happen to take to the gym. A separate ventilated compartment for shoes and wet kit, so Monday's towel never meets Tuesday's laptop. A padded laptop sleeve that opens flat or from the top, so you're not unpacking gym kit at security or in a cafe. Around 20 to 30 litres, enough for kit and a change of clothes, small enough for a commute. And quiet styling, no neon panels or slogan branding, so it reads as a work bag first.
Spend £40 to £90 for something that lasts years. Below that, zips and seams give out around the six-month mark; above £120 you're mostly paying for fashion, which is fine, as long as you know that's the deal.

Backpack or holdall?
Backpack if you commute by bike, train or on foot, your shoulders will thank you. Holdall if you drive and want the easiest access. Most work-to-gym members end up happier with a backpack.
What size do I actually need?
20 to 30 litres covers gym kit, a towel, toiletries and a change of clothes. Go bigger only if you carry swim kit and work clothes on the same day, or play a racket sport.
How do I stop my bag smelling?
Air it open every evening, never leave damp kit in it overnight, and wash or wipe the lining monthly. A ventilated shoe compartment helps more than any spray.
